Fall Festival

Today, Addie's preschool had their annual fall festival. She has been so interested lately in playing doctor, that we decided that she could dress up as one for today!! She was so excited that she could be a "doctor" at school today, she even told people at church last night! We snuck this picture in before Daddy headed to the OR.

Before heading in to school, she put on her "escope" and gave her friends a check-up.

They had to set up all the festivities in the gym since it was raining, but at least it was air conditioned! :) They had it open just for the 2K kids, so that allowed the little ones to play freely.

More sand made it on the outside of the tub than stayed inside!

She plays golf like her Daddy! Ha! Not really!

Going fishing for candy!

My camera was slow, so I missed a great shot, but she really did toss the bean bags into the hole! I was way impressed!

Towards the end of the festival, she got a little curious, and wandered to the back of the fishing booth! She was thrilled to find the candy and started helping the teacher put the candy on the pole!

A Day Out With Thomas

Today, Addie, Justin, and I ventured to the "Island of Sodor"! For those of you who might be unfamiliar with what I am talking about, that is the fictitious island where the Thomas the Train series is set. Sam's Shortline in Cordele, was made over this weekend to all things Thomas! Addie has really enjoyed Thomas for the past 6 months or so, and when we saw the ad on PBS for this event, we KNEW we had to be there!! We got her up early this morning and made the short trip south. We told her while putting on her shoes, and she squealed in delight! Every car we passed on the way, she told them she was going to Thomas' house!

Her first glimpse of the #1 Blue Train (aka Thomas)

Taking a moment to "cheese" with Daddy. She was a bit intimidated by all the people; I think she expected it to be just her and Thomas!
Smiling with Mommy! She did so good waiting in line! No whining or crying; she did better than some five year olds that were around!

I think this face says it all!

They had Thomas songs playing while we rode and she would sing along.

This nice man across from us took this family picture of us. I just love Addie's expression - she is still so skeptical of strangers. I guess that's a good thing!

After the train ride, we stopped off at Tidmouth Sheds.

Playing with a model train set. Hmmm....I have a good idea for Christmas!

On the trolley ride back to the car.

Our happy girl on her way home...notice the hat! That's what happens when Daddy goes to the gift shop! Ha!

Tricycle Fun

While in Valdosta, we stayed with my parents, and Addie had no shortage of fun! Whenever "Gandy" (my dad) came home from work, they would play outside for hours. One of their adventures was teaching Addie how to pedal on her tricycle. By the end of our two month stay, she was getting pretty good! (Please ignore my appearance - working from home does not a diva make! Haha!)

Singing In The Rain..jumping too!

While we were in Valdosta for Justin's training, we were thrilled to be able to see and spend time with friends. One night after church, we walked outside to find Rylin (Addie's best friend) splashing in the puddles. Addie couldn't resist, and we let her join in on the fun. Even though she didn't have her galoshes on, that didn't stop her from "dancing in the rain".

We are all relieved to now be back home...all together. I took a day off this week to make our house a home again. It is funny what time can do to a house that is empty! We also started back to potty training! Our first attempt during early summer didn't go so well; she just was not ready. However, now, she is doing much better. It is not an overnight success like I had hoped, but each day is getting better.

A Family Once Again!

Yay!! Justin finally made it back home to us! He drove in very late on Friday, September 17th, and Addie and I couldn't have been more excited! However, we've not really been able to be "home" yet, because we are still on the road as Justin is working with an Ophthalmologist in South Georgia. Regardless of our location, we are all relieved that we are together! More blogging and pictures to come! ;)

Happy Birthday Daddy!

We got a tremendous blessing this weekend for Daddy' birthday, we got a visit with Daddy! The Lord provided Justin with a free weekend from call and a cheap airplane ticket, so we were able to celebrate with him for his birthday! We drove up to Atlanta on Friday night and picked him up from the airport, and Addie was ECSTATIC to see him and kept telling all the people to move because she wanted to see her daddy. When we got home, Addie and I had created a little display for him.
Justin wanted a cake with rainbow chip icing, so I made him a little one, but I also made him eyeball cupcakes in honor of his chosen specialty.
Addie made this sign to welcome him home too! I obviously helped out a bit! :)
The birthday boy blowing out his candles! Addie is starting to really enjoy and understand what birthdays are all about, so it was precious to hear her sing "Happy Birthday."

Our sweet girl enjoying her cupcake...she asked for the fork! She didn't like getting too messy!

Justin flies back out tomorrow, and we have thoroughly enjoyed being a family together this weekend. We adore our Daddy and look forward to seeing him again soon.

Addie's First Day of Preschool!

Since we've been in and out of town, Addie wasn't able to start back to preschool until today. She is in a 2-K class with some of the same friends from last year! Her teacher is wonderful, and I anticipate another great year! We snapped a few pictures before leaving this morning.

Getting ready to leave for our big day! She is getting SO much better at being still and smiling for the camera. My sweet, big girl!

Eager for her first day back at school! Check out those Keds! Having those clean, white shoes just shouts "Back to School" to me! :)

I thought we would all appreciate seeing how Addie looked when she started school this time last year:

Wow!! Can you believe what a difference a year makes??!! In this picture she was only half-way up the door. In today's picture, she was as tall as the door knob!! Wow! What a year!
